Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 a month for 1 domain and 25 tracked prompts, with no free trial. Extra prompts are $60 per 50 a month, each extra domain is $99 a month and each extra user is another $99. MentionRadar starts at $49 a month and adds web mention monitoring to ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews tracking.

The base price looks small until you count what a real tracking plan needs: a few dozen prompts, two or three competitors, a teammate who reads the report. This guide prices that out and shows where a cheaper tool fits and where Semrush still wins.

How much does the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit cost?

According to Semrush's own help center, the AI Visibility Toolkit is a standalone subscription at $99 a month. Annual add-ons are billed prorated for the rest of the annual term. The toolkit page states it does not offer a free trial, although other Semrush pages have mentioned one, so confirm at checkout.

Extra user$99 a month eachEach user needs their own license

Prices checked on Semrush's help center in October 2026. Semrush's main pricing page also sells SEO plans with AI search tracking inside them, listed in euros at the time of writing, so the numbers depend on which door you walk through.

What does a realistic Semrush AI tracking bill look like?

Take a marketing lead tracking 75 prompts for one brand, with one colleague reading reports. That is the base toolkit, 50 extra prompts at $60, and a second license at $99, about $258 a month. Add a second brand or client domain and it is $357. An agency covering five clients with a small team lands well above $600 a month before any SEO subscription.

None of that is unreasonable if you also use Semrush for keyword research and site audits. It is expensive if the AI toolkit is the only reason you pay.

Which AI engines does the Semrush toolkit cover?

The help center lists Prompt Tracking and Brand Performance for ChatGPT and Google's AI Mode. Gemini appears in promotion but not in the feature descriptions we checked. Perplexity and Claude coverage was not stated there. If your buyers use Perplexity or you need Claude and Gemini in the same report, ask before you commit.

What MentionRadar covers

Starter includes 3 keywords, 3 competitors, 5,000 web mentions a month, 1 seat and 15 weekly prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Growth includes 30,000 mentions, 40 prompts across 5 engines including Gemini and Claude, cited sources, Slack alerts, scheduled PDF reports and 5 seats. Agency adds 15 client workspaces and white-label reports. Monthly plans carry no long contract. See the MentionRadar pricing page for limits.

What you would still need Semrush for

Keyword research, rank tracking in classic Google results, backlink analysis and site audits. MentionRadar does none of that. Many teams keep an SEO suite and move only the AI and mention tracking to a cheaper tool.

Is the Semrush AI toolkit worth it?

It is worth it when your team already uses Semrush daily and one domain with 25 prompts covers the job. It is hard to justify when you need more prompts, several domains or multiple readers, because each of those is billed again at $60 or $99.

A quick test: list the prompts a buyer would type before choosing your product, the competitors you need beside you, and who must see the report. If that is under 25 prompts, one brand and one person, the toolkit fits. Beyond that, compare the all-in monthly cost, not the headline price.

Does Semrush have a free AI visibility tool?

Semrush offers free AI visibility checks and free-tier access to parts of its suite, but the AI Visibility Toolkit itself is a paid $99 a month product and its help center says there is no free trial. Free checks give a snapshot, not weekly tracking, so they do not replace a paid plan for a team that reports on AI visibility.

Semrush or MentionRadar: who should pick which?

Pick Semrush if the AI toolkit is an add-on to an SEO workflow you already run there, you track one domain and fewer than 25 prompts, and one person reads the output. Keeping everything in one login has value.

Pick MentionRadar if you want AI answers and mentions in one place, track more than a handful of buying prompts, or need to share a scheduled report with a manager or client without buying seats. A founder or small marketing team usually fits Starter or Growth, and an agency fits the Agency plan with separate client workspaces.

The two are not exclusive. Plenty of teams keep a smaller SEO subscription for keywords and audits and run AI and mention tracking separately, because the AI side changes weekly and the SEO side changes monthly.

How to cut an AI tracking bill

  • Start with 15 to 25 buyer prompts. Comparison and "best for" prompts move revenue, broad awareness prompts rarely do.
  • Share one report. Send a scheduled PDF instead of buying a seat for every reader.
  • Price the second brand upfront. Per-domain add-ons are where bills double.
  • Run two tools for two weeks. Compare the same 20 prompts and see which one names the sources that AI answers cite.

What to do with the results

Tracking only pays off if you act on it. When an answer names a competitor and not you, the cited pages are the target. Getting your brand onto them is a link and content job, and a link building service that places you on the pages those answers cite is one way to do it.

The short version

Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 a month for 1 domain and 25 prompts, and every extra prompt block, domain or user is billed again. If you need AI answer tracking plus mention monitoring and a shared report, MentionRadar does that from $49 a month.
